Con siete a\u00f1os comenz\u00f3 a vender agujas y carb\u00f3n en su isla natal, La Palma, y a los 8 a\u00f1os perdi\u00f3 a su padre. Se busc\u00f3 la vida como pudo y muy jovencito, con una maleta de cart\u00f3n y una lata de azafr\u00e1n canario se fue como emigrante a Venezuela, nuestra entonces \u201coctava isla\u201d. De ella volvi\u00f3 tras cosechar \u00e9xitos y tambi\u00e9n fracasos.\u00a0 <strong>Ignacio Gonz\u00e1lez Mart\u00edn<\/strong> aqu\u00ed lleg\u00f3 a montar un imperio trabajando de sol a sol, mientras sacaba adelante a su familia. Tambi\u00e9n aport\u00f3 sus conocimientos, tiempo y dinero en la Pol\u00edtica, ayudando a consolidar nuestra joven democracia. Un tremendo fallo, s\u00ed, seguramente un fallo imperdonable convertido en delito, le llev\u00f3 a la c\u00e1rcel. Y en ella entr\u00f3, resignado y enfermo con m\u00e1s de 82 a\u00f1os y en silla de ruedas.
